Wayne Krill

Owner/Head Instructor: Shotokan West Karate-do                     Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt)

Sensei Krill began training in Shotokan karate in 1986, primarily under senseis Martin Asplund and Curt Huber. Sensei Krill took over ownership and became head instructor of Shotokan West in 2005. In 2008 he received a California Adult Education teaching credential for health and fitness. In 2012, Sensei Krill traveled to Okinawa and was certified as completing study under six 9th and 10th  degree black belt masters in Shorin-ryu, Uechi-ryu, and Goju-ryu. Sensei Krill is actively practicing and teaching Shotokan and Okinawan karate, jujitsu and aikido to adults of all levels.

 

Akihisa Yamaguchi

Assistant Instructor: Shotokan West Karate-do                             Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt)

Mr. Yamaguchi began training in Wado-ryu karate in 1991 at the age of 10 in Japan with 5 years under Sensei Iwao Shimizu. In 2000, he resumed karate training in Shotokan style in University of Tsukuba under Sensei Masashi Nakajima, receiving Shodan rank in 2001 and Nidan rank in 2004. After a 9 year gap as he pursued his business career, he moved from Japan to Santa Clara and is now practicing at Shotokan West.

Scott Fullam

Associate Instructor: Shotokan West Karate-do                           Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt)

Mr. Fullam began training in Shotokan karate in 1993 at Shotokan west under senseis Curt Huber and Wayne Krill. Prior to Shotokan west, Mr. Fullam studied Shito-ryu in New York City for 2 years. Mr. Fullam is actively practicing and has been assisting instruction at Shotokan West since 2010.
